NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This Webb photograph reveals the intrica - Lot 351
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This Webb photograph reveals the intricate details of the Cassiopeia A supernova remnant, showing the expanding shell of matter colliding with the gas released by the star before it exploded. The periphery of the main inner shell resembles the smoke of a campfire. It marks the point where the material ejected by the exploding star collides with the surrounding circumstellar matter. Several bright echoes are also visible in this image, notably in the lower right-hand corner. This is where the light from the star's explosion has reached and warmed the distant dust, which glows as it cools. Vintage chromogenic print. References in the margin on the front. Legend on label on back. 60.9 x 60.9 cm with margins.
