Cultures of Mexico - COLIMA Stylized human figure. The head is elongated. The arms are short. Red terra cotta with traces of manganese oxides. Height: 23.5 cm Width: 15.5 cm Thickness: 4.5 cm Colima culture, ca. 200 BC A.D. 500. Mexico. Minor restoration to feet, otherwise well preserved. Provenance : Private collection, Geneva (acquired late 70s-early 80s) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired 2006) Stylized standing shaman. The short arms are away from the body. The legs are far apart. The head shows a ritually elongated cranial deformity. The skull contour is surrounded by small pastilles. He wears necklaces, bracelets and a belt. This lot is a temporary import (from a non-EU country), and import VAT of 5.5% will be added to the hammer price for sale in France.
