Cultures of Mexico - JALISCO Vase representing a woman lying on her side. Ceramic with polychrome decoration and glazed surface. Height: 14 cm Length: 27 cm Thickness: 16.8 cm Jalisco culture, ca. 100 B.C.-250 A.D. A few chips, otherwise very good condition. Thermoluminescence test dated 07/26/2024 by the Re.S.Artes laboratory (Bordeaux) indicates a date between 300 BC and 300 AD. Provenance : Galerie de Sfinx, Amsterdam Private collection, Geneva (acquired from Galerie de Sfinx in 1981, with invoice in archives) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired 2006) Rare depiction of a figure lying on his right side, his head raised and his hands close to his mouth. The body is brick-red except for the head, which is white. The whole is a vase, with the neck in the middle of the body. The lips of the neck are flared and flat. This lot is a temporary import (from a non-EU country). VAT of 5.5% will be added to the hammer price for sale in France.
