Cultures of Mexico - MAYA Cylindrical vase decorated with animals in bas-relief. Red and black terra cotta. Neck diameter: 15.7 cm Height: 17.8 cm Maya culture, ca. 900-1400 A.D. Mexico. Surface wear and a few chips, otherwise good condition. Provenance : Private collection, Geneva (acquired late 70s-early 80s) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired 2006) Cylindrical vase decorated in two parts. The black upper part is painted with a series of parallel lines and crosses in white. The lower part is a dark red incised design. A crenellated frieze and underneath two squares with a stylized jaguar in slight bas-relief. This lot is a temporary import (from a non-EU country), and will be subject to 5.5% VAT on the hammer price when released for consumption in France.
