Cultures of Mexico - ZACATECAS Pair of anthropomorphic statuettes Ceramic with polychrome beige, red and black decoration. Height: 21 cm / 26 cm Width: 11 cm / 15.5 cm Thickness: 9.8 cm / 15.2 cm Zacatecas culture, ca. 100 B.C. - 500 A.D. State of Jalisco, western Mexico. Traces of roots and manganese oxide deposits. Good condition. Provenance Benedicht R. Wagner Antiquités, Geneva Private collection, Geneva (acquired from Benedicht R. Wagner, with original provenance photo) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired 2006) These two important pieces probably each come from a different couple and have been associated. The quality of these ceramics undoubtedly links these figurines to the Jalisco tradition. They come from the well tombs found in the various village cultures of Mexico's west coast. This lot is a temporary import (from a non-EU country), and import VAT of 5.5% will be added to the hammer price for sale in France.
