ORDER OF MALTA. Jean de VALETTE, Grand Master of the Hospitallers of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem (Parisot/ Tarn-et-Garonne 1494 - Malta 1568), best known for having supported the Siege of Malta against the Ottomans in 1565, and for having founded and given his name to the current capital of the Republic of Malta, Valletta.
