LOUIS-STANISLAS-XAVIER, Comte de Provence, Future King LOUIS - Lot 265
LOUIS-STANISLAS-XAVIER, Comte de Provence, Future King LOUIS XVIII, Brother of LOUIS XVI (1755 - 1824) - Rare Autograph letter signed "LOUIS-STANISLAS-XAVIER", from Paris on April 19, 1790, to Jérôme CHAMPION DE CICÉ, Garde des Sceaux of Louis XVI, from 1789 to 1790, who emigrated in 1790. Royal black wax seal. The Comte de PROVENCE emigrated abroad around June 20, 1791: "The creditors of the late Mr de MAZIÈRES have just delivered a new memorandum on their lawsuit with the heirs. This is becoming an essential reason for granting the Comte de Modène the necessary time to reply and produce the decisive documents. In this way, the creditors' procedure and the reasons for rigorous justice come together with the promise you have given me, to provide all the time necessary for the investigation and even to bring, if necessary, to the Committee of Departments combined with that of Finance, the report of a case whose importance and circumstances make it worthy of a solemn judgement. I beg you, Sir, to be fully persuaded of all my feelings for you."
