MANCHE. 1796. CHOUANS. Military discharge signed by the Council of the 17th Infantry Brigade. Done at VALOGNES (50) 24 Messidor year 4 (July 12, 1796). Congé de Réforme to Jean MAINE of the Compagnie de Grenadiers de Gaffé, native of SAUMON, District of Argenton (INDRE), who has served since 1792, wounded by a gunshot to the right hand while fighting against the CHOUANS (Sic Chouants), honest man and good Republican. Engraved patent (24 x 31.5 cm) filled in ink, illustrated with soldiers.
