Dominique Joseph GARAT (Bayonne (64) 1749 - 1833). Deputy for Labourd at the Estates-General of 1789. In 1792, he succeeded Danton at the Ministry of Justice, where he refused to condemn the perpetrators of the September massacres, but notified Louis XVI of the indictment and the arrest of the Girondins. He narrowly escaped the guillotine. After 18 Brumaire, he was made Senator and Count of the Empire - Letter A.S. "Le Sénateur GARAT, à son Collègue Jean Frédéric PERREGAUX, Banquier et Sénateur. You will also oblige me by sending me, poste restante to Neufchâtel, a letter of credit of twelve hundred francs for some House in either Berne or one of the main towns in Western Switzerland.
