"Reminds Merchants, Commissionaires and Voituriers that, under the terms of the Decree of January 3, 1809, Lettres de voitures, Connaissements, Chartes-parties and Police d'Assurance des Marchandises dont le transport se fait par terre et par eau, are subject to a size stamp... The Customs Officers and the Collectors of the Octroi are obliged to have the said Lettres de Voitures, Connaissements... represented to them in order to verify whether these documents are written on stamped paper...".
