HOME OF EMPEROR NAPOLEON III. Palais de SAINT CLOUD (Hauts-de-Seine), October 23, 1859. Letter signed by General FLEURY, Premier Écuyer, Aide de Camp to the Emperor, to Mr MOCQUARD, head of the Emperor's Cabinet. 2 pages in-4°. He addresses a request for an audience with the Emperor from Captain Vte de QUÉLEN for a position as His Majesty's ordinance officer. He sends him a letter "from the Comte d'ABZAC, whose name is well known in equestrian circles and who for years has made requests to the Emperor, first to be one of his Squires, then to obtain a place in the Haras. I don't know if the Emperor intends to take any interest in him, and consequently I don't know what to say. Finally, here is the widow of a Captain of the 3rd Zouaves... who assures me that His Majesty deigns to take an interest in her. Can you enlighten me as to what I can say..."
