Maurice ROSTAND (1891-1968, poet, novelist and playwright) / - Lot 178
Maurice ROSTAND (1891-1968, poet, novelist and playwright) / Important autograph letter signed, 9 p petit in-4, Paris, April 18, 1925, to Maurice Bernhardt (Sarah's son, director of the Théâtre Sarah Bernhardt until September), about L'Archange (his heroic drama in 3 acts and verse, premiered at the Théâtre Sarah Bernhardt on March 19, 1925): The performances of L'Archange are stopped, Maurice Rostand comes to protest and argue for its continuation at least until the Fiftieth, Réfléchissez cher ami. This is very important. Of all your friends, I am perhaps the one to whom you owe this most, so don't force me to be angry with you when I realize that your affection does not match mine (nb: the receipts are not good, Rostand says it's because of the lack of publicity... he's playing on the emotional cord that binds their two families...) / Enclosed: autograph dedication signed on program photo 1936
