DUNKERQUE 17th / Vintage engraving on hand-colored copperplate, published in 1649 by Joan Blaeu - This is the plan of Fort Mardijk near Dunkirk at the time of the siege and conquest by the French army under Gaston Duc d'Orléans over the Spanish, from June 22 to July 9, 1645: off the coast, a Dutch fleet under the command of Admiral Maarten Tromp, with the legend in the upper left and a ladder stick on the right, presented in a beautiful 20th-century black wood frame (tank 52 x 41.5 cm, frame 84 x 73 cm).
