Pierre-Jean de BERANGER (1780-1857, chansonnier) - Chansons collected in a suite of 5 in-12 volumes (9.5 x 15.5 cm) embellished with 98 steel-engraved out-of-text illustrations by the great names of the period (Bellangé, Charlet, Devéria, Jouhannot, Monnier, Roqueplanen, Scheffer etc.) and presented in a binding signed Gross (foot of spine).) and presented in a binding signed Gross (foot of spine of 1st vol.), full midnight-blue chagrin, boards with double gilded ornate frame, smooth spine, gilded ornate boards inside and gilded edges (some rubbing, spines slightly sunned) - The first 3 volumes were published by Perrotin, Guillaumin et Bigot in 1829: vol 1 avec frontispice gravure acier portrait de Béranger par Scheffer, xliii et 252 p, 22 gravures - vol 2de 260p et 28 gravures - vol 3 de 260 p et 33 gravures - Le volume 4 est composé de 2 ouvrages différents reliés ensembles: Chansons politiques published in 1829 by Tardier in Brussels, 82 p and Chansons nouvelles et dernières published by Perrotin in 1833, with xlvii + 249 p and 15 engravings - Volume 5 is devoted to Chansons érotiques, 98 p and includes only a faux-titre page (no title page) - This set is enriched by an autograph letter signed by Béranger in 1849 (2 p in-8).
