[NAPOLEON III] Friedrich RITSCHL(1806-1876,Philologist and linguist, he was a disciple and friend of Friedrich Nietzsch) / Notesen Germanwritten in his own hand, 3 p in-8, dry-headed "Friedrich Ritschl" on each leaf: He gives his opinion on the situation of Caesar's crossing of the Rhine; a renowned Latinist, Ritschl was a friend of Hortense Cornu, goddaughter of Queen Hortense and therefore close to Napoleon III -This note is probably addressed to Napoleon III, whom Hortense had put in touch with Ritschl in order to collaborate on his great work: "The History of Julius Caesar" - Napoleon III published 2 volumes, in 1865 and 1866, and Ritschl translated them into German.
