[Helena RUBINSTEIN] - WALDORF-ASTORIA(one of the world's most famous hotels, opened in 1931) / Exceptional "directory book" from the 1930s, given to businesswoman Helena RUBINSTEIN(1872-1965): Black moleskin screw-top binder (17 x 22.7 cm), front cover silver-stamped "Directory" "The Waldorf Astoria", with 56 pages divided (recto only) into 4 parts separated by tabbed dividers: Foreword, Index, Maps, Shops and Services - The first divider bears an autograph dedication from PresidentLucius BOOMER(1878-1960) toHelena Rubinstein: "To Mrs Rubinstein from W.A. Regards" - President Boomer's preface explains the values and convictions of the Waldorf Astoria - The index refers to the various pages of the manual, listing the different expectations of the customer - The fold-out plans show the "Lobby-floor" and the "Ground-floor", the location of the hotel in its district, the location of the various frescoes by Louis Rigal and José Maria Sert, and details of the hotel's decorations and construction - On over 45 pages, all the possible services that the customer may require are listed, including information on the management team, luggage storage, garage, banks, safety deposit box, hairdresser, library, children's service, room capacities for receptions, dry cleaning, elevators, jewelry store, cigar cellar, telecommunications services, photographer, restaurants, clubs, room service, boutiques, etc.
