Following the example of the great American explorers of the late 19th century, space probes are taking magnificent shots of the exploration of the Universe and in particular the planet Mars directly from the ground with the new generation of automatic rovers. This Martian scene shows the contrasting textures and colors of "Hinners Point", at the northern end of "Marathon Valley", and the swirling reddish areas on the valley floor to the left. In this version of the image, the landscape is presented in enhanced colors to make the differences in surface materials more easily visible. 2015. Vintage chromogenic print.
