Nasa. It's April 24, 1990, and the space shuttle DISCOVERY ( - Lot 146
Nasa. It's April 24, 1990, and the space shuttle DISCOVERY (Mission STS-31) has just launched a satellite that will revolutionize the history of astrophysics and man's knowledge of the Universe: HUBBLE. Here, in the center of the image, we can make out its unfurled silhouette in front of a snow-covered area of the globe. Its solar panels are deployed, and at the top of the image is the end of its former umbilical cord: that of the space shuttle's articulated arm. Vintage chromogenic print on "KODAK" paper. NASA logo and numbering in the margin on the front. 25.4 x 20.3cm with margins.
