NASA. HUBBLE telescope. A psychedelic panoramic view of the Omega Centauri globular cluster, with its nearly 10 million stars. Omega Centauri's stars are between 10 and 12 billion years old, and the cluster lies around 16,000 light-years from Earth. Most of the stars in the image are white-yellow, like our Sun. These are mature stars, shining thanks to hydrogen fusion. Towards the end of their normal lives, stars become colder and larger. These end-of-life stars are the orange dots in the image. Even later in their life cycle, stars continue to cool and grow, becoming red giants.
