Period copy of the 108-page folio Manuscript, concerning the examination of the lost Battle of April 12, 1782, entitled: "Observations addressed to the Council of War at L'ORIENT (LORIENT, Morbihan) by M. de VAUDREUIL". Contradictory accounts of the Combat, point by point, between the Comte de GRASSE and the Marquis de VAUDREUIL. The combat took place around Dominique, Saint Domingue, involving 30 French ships against 37 English. Copies of letters, reports, judgments, names of all ships on the French side, with their participation in the battle; Le Triomphant, Le Pluton, Le Richemont, l'aimable, Le Clairvoyant.
