"The National Assembly, without prejudging what it will rule on ORDERS OF CHEVALRY, decrees: 1) Officers of the regiments of royal grenadiers, provincial regiments, battalions and garrisons and coast guards, will count, for military decoration, the time they have served in the troops of the line, as is regulated for officers of these troops by the decree of January 1, 1791... with regard to musketeers and other officers of the king's household.... 24 years will be required..."
