The two figures are broken and glued, and show extensive restorations. Provenance : Estate of June Gitlin Collection Private collection, Geneva (acquired from the Estate of June Gitlin via an auction house in November 1995) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired in 2006) Representation of a stylized couple. The woman and man are seated. Their torsos are bare. They are wearing a skirt held up by a belt. They are both wearing pastillé necklaces, earrings and headbands. The wide, flattened body, with a narrow, slender head, coffee-bean eyes and a prominent straight nose, is characterized by cylindrical arms and legs. This type of statuette generally comes from the Las Animas region in the state of Colima.
