Cultures of South America - CHIMU Stirrup-handled vase with two animals on the handle, resting on a pedestal. Black terra cotta Height: 19.8 cm Length: 18.5 cm Width: 7.6 cm Chimu culture, ca. 1100-1400 A.D. Peru. Broken and glued at the handle. Surface wear and a few chips, otherwise very good condition. Old number under the pedestal. Provenance Viernheimer Galerie - Walter Herrmann, Viernheim Private collection, Geneva (acquired from Viernheimer Galerie in 1981, with purchase invoice in the archives) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired 2006) This lot is a temporary import (from a non-EU country). VAT of 5.5% must be added to the hammer price for sale in France.
