Cultures of South America - CHIMU Whistling vase composed of two parts joined by a handle. The sum of one is a tubular neck. The other is a stylized human representation of a richly dressed figure. Black ceramic. Height: 18.7 cm Length : 22 cm Width: 13 cm Chimu culture, ca. 1100-1400 A.D. Peru. Small chips and missing pieces, otherwise well preserved. Provenance : Viernheimer Galerie - Walter Herrmann, Viernheim Private collection, Geneva (acquired from Viernheimer Galerie in 1981, with purchase invoice in the archives) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired 2006) This lot is a temporary import (from a non-EU country). VAT of 5.5% must be added to the hammer price for sale in France.
