Cultures of South America - CHIMU Double-bodied dance vase. A tubular neck is linked by a flat handle to a stylized standing human figure. Both rest on a kind of coloquinte. The whole is supported by a shower foot. Ceramic with glazed surface. Height: 18.5 cm Width: 18.8 cm Chimu culture, ca. 1100-1400 A.D. Peru. Surface wear, broken glue on the pedestal, otherwise good condition. Provenance : Private collection, Geneva (acquired late 70s-early 80s) Private collection, Vaduz (acquired in 2006) A similar example is kept at KAM, (Krannert Art Museum - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) under number 1967-29-75 This lot is a temporary import (from a non-EU country). VAT of 5.5% must be added to the hammer price for sale in France.
