Ceremonial knife also known as a Tumi with a semicircular blade decorated at the tip with a richly adorned head. Oxidized copper. Length: 24 cm Width: 11 cm Mochica culture, ca. 100-700 A.D. Peru. Very eroded, but well preserved. Tumi was used for sacrificial ceremonies and sometimes for surgical operations such as trepanning. A bronze Tumi measuring 8 cm in height is included (CF photo after 76). Provenance: collection of Monsieur P.
