BOSSUET: Traité du Libre-arbitre et de la concupiscence. Pos - Lot 13
BOSSUET: Traité du Libre-arbitre et de la concupiscence. Posthumous works. Paris, Alix, 1731. In-12 contemporary fawn basane, smooth ornate spine, speckled edges (head cap torn, corners rubbed, qq light spotting, small tear repaired on title). First edition of this didactic work intended for the education of the Dauphin. This posthumous work was donated by the bishop of Troyes, the author's nephew. In part, it is directed against the libertines and worldlings that Bossuet never ceased to combat in his sermons. It also condemns, in admirable language, man's weaknesses towards himself. This treatise is one of those that perfectly sums up the doctrinal position of the Bishop of Meaux.
