Collection of erotic poems translated from Greek: written by PAUL, Byzantine poet "chief of the silentiaries", secretaries or bailiffs at the court of the Emperor Justinian (6th century), whose writings have survived only in the Anthology of Agathias the Scholastic, eight amorous epigrams and two descriptive poems on Saint Sophia of Constantinople. Cover illustrated with a color woodcut by Gabriel FOURNIER. Edition of 350 copies, this one 1/25 first on Rives containing a double suite of the woodcut on the cover.
