SEINE-MARITIME. Marquis de MIROMESNIL (Armand Thomas HÜE, Ch - Lot 161
SEINE-MARITIME. Marquis de MIROMESNIL (Armand Thomas HÜE, Chevalier,) Magistrate, he systematically defended Members of Parliament against Royal policy. He was Garde des Sceaux from 1774 to 1787 (Château de Latingy à Mardié/ Loiret 1723 - Château de Miromesnil, Seine Maritime 1796) - Autograph letter signed MIROMESNIL, to the Abbess of MONTIVILLIERS (76). The letter is written from the Château de MIROMESNIL (Seine-Maritime) on September 15, 1764. She complains about a man named FAUCOUT from the parish of MANNEVILLE-ES-PLAINS (76), and MIROMESNIL did not reply to her letter earlier because of "business with which I was burdened at the end of the Palace." "I have discussed the matter with the Attorney General. It seems impossible to us to resort to authority to have the named FAUCOUT removed, however reprehensible his conduct may be. We do not believe that the Minister wanted to propose to the King to give such orders for an offence that can be punished by the ordinary channels of justice". He thinks that she should pursue the appeal that the named FAUCOUT has lodged with Parliament against the Sentence of the Bailiwick of CANY (76). 3 pages in-4°.
