Nicolas Bernard RAGGI, Statuary naturalized French in 1828 ( - Lot 449
Nicolas Bernard RAGGI, Statuary naturalized French in 1828 (Carrara/Italy 1790 - Paris 1862) - Letter A.S. PARIS March 14, 1825, to Mr. LAVOINE Architecte des travaux publics, 25 rue des Bons-Enfants à Paris - 1p in-4°. "I thank you for the eagerness you have shown in informing me that workshop N°2 on the Quai d'ORSAY will be made available to me." He asks her to report to the director, and let him know of the poor state it's in. "You must have noticed that the cold is penetrating from all sides, and without a proper repair, I'll find myself next winter seeing my model frozen, and losing the fruit of two years' work. If there were also a way to make a sash through the roof, I'd probably find myself illuminated. In the present state, the head of my figure will protrude more than a foot above the crosspieces... a week's delay, given the modest time allotted to me for this work, will do me a great deal of harm."
