Maxime Julien ÉMERIAU DE BEAUVERGER, Vice-Admiral. He took part in the American and Revolutionary Wars, and in the Battle of Aboukir (Carhaix/ Finistère 1762 - Toulon/ Var 1845) - Long autograph letter signed "le Vice-Amiral, Pair de France, ancien premier inspecteur général de la Marine, comte ÉMERIAU", written from TOULON (Var) on December 15, 1840, to Maréchal Duc de REGGIO (Nicolas Charles OUDINOT), President of the Commission des inscriptions de l'Arc de Triomphe. 3 pages in-4°. He has been omitted from "the list of names deemed suitable for inscription on the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile." He reminds him of his long record of service in the Navy, enclosing a biographical note, and "Perhaps you will recognize, Monsieur le Maréchal, that the omission made in my regard should be rectified, and that I am worthy of being included among the useful servants of the Fatherland...".
