WAR OF 1870. NORD AND PAS-DE-CALAIS. PARIS supplied by the C - Lot 560
WAR OF 1870. NORD AND PAS-DE-CALAIS. PARIS supplied by the Chemin de Fer du NORD. "Préfecture du Nord. Avis. The Compagnie du Chemin de fer du Nord informs us that it will transport free of charge on its network, and that it will return free of charge, from all its currently accessible stations, all objects or foodstuffs sent as patriotic donations to the city of Paris. The misery to be alleviated is great, and it is up to the people of this country, so rich and one of the least affected by the sufferings of the invasion, to be generous. All donations will be received and sent free of charge to M. le Sous-Préfet de Dunkerque, who will forward them to Dieppe, also free of charge, until the day when the re-establishment of the railway line will enable them to be sent directly to Paris. The names of donors will be recorded... Traders are informed that... the only route open, for the time being, to the goods they may wish to send to Paris, is the Dieppe route, via the Ports of Boulogne, Calais and Dunkirk." Poster printed in 1871 by L. Danel (56 x 45 cm) Condition B, consolidations on verso.
