Léopold FLAMENG, French engraver, born in Brussels in 1831, - Lot 570
Léopold FLAMENG, French engraver, born in Brussels in 1831, died in Courgent near Mantes in 1911. Acad. des Beaux-Arts. Autograph letter signed La Tournelle, SEPTEUIL (Yvelines), Seine et Oise June 20, 1879 (to Aimé GIRON): "My dear friend. Receive our warmest thanks for your warm and sincere congratulations. I am the happiest of men being the happiest of fathers. Our luck is incomparable, at 22, to win such a success is unheard of. He receives these things without drunkenness, sees with a clear eye the road ahead, measures it with discernment, knows the extent of his strength and says to himself, now the game gets serious. I have a strong stomach and a will to match it. So, in the end, we'll overcome the obstacles. Talent is the key to establishing yourself in the sun. François and his mother send you their best regards..."
