Olympic Torch for the Paris 2024 Games - Lot 99
Olympic Torch for the Paris 2024 Games Official torch of the XXXIII Olympic Summer Games, designed by Mathieu Lehanneur and made in France by ArcelorMittal from 100% recycled steel. Its sleek, symmetrical design embodies three essential values: equality, with total parity between athletes and a single torch for the Olympic and Paralympic Games; water, the central element of the torch's journey and of the events, symbolized by wave and vibration effects; and appeasement, represented by gentle curves evoking fraternity and the Olympic truce. Measuring 70 cm high and weighing 1.5 kg, it features a champagne-gold hue (Matthieu Lehanneur imagined a color resulting from a mixture of gold, silver and bronze) and has an identical top and bottom diameter of 3.5 cm. Produced in a limited edition of just 2,000 pieces - 1,500 for the Olympic Games and 500 for the Paralympic Games - it stands out for its limited production run, five times less than previous Games. This copy, one of the 1,500 shipped from Marseille to Paris after having completed its Grand Tour and enchanted nearly 11,000 torchbearers, has been repackaged in its official packaging.
