WHO IS ALICE MILLIAT :

It will take place during the Trophées Alice Milliat ceremony, which aims to highlight the players and actresses of women's sport in France.

Each year, an Alice Milliat Trophy is awarded to the Personality, Media, Partner or Association who has marked the year of women's sport.

Alice Milliat is the forgotten figure in the history of French sport.

This top-level sportswoman with notable international experience made equal access for women and men to all sports her battle.

Faced with numerous refusals from international sporting bodies to give women a fairer place in sport, she founded the Fédération Sportive Féminine Internationale (FSFI) and independently organized the Women's Olympic Games (renamed the Women's World Games). These sporting events were such a success that she obtained women's participation in the athletics events at the Amsterdam Games in 1928! A historic turning point...

ABOUT THE ALICE MILLIAT FOUNDATION :

The Alice Milliat Foundation is the first foundation in Europe dedicated to women's sport. It was officially born on March 29, 2016 at INSEP on the occasion of the launch of the "11 Tricolore, la France au rendez-vous", in the presence of President François Hollande. It is sheltered by the Fondation de France and recognized as a public utility.

The Foundation was created in response to the inequalities between men and women in the world of sport. It was born of the desire to improve media coverage of women's sport in France and Europe, both professional and amateur. Although media coverage is progressing, thanks in particular to the creation of specialized media, there is still a long way to go to achieve a fairer place for women in sport, and to set up genuine "role models" for millions of young girls.

Having led a number of initiatives to promote women's sport in France, the Foundation is also helping to give impetus to improving conditions for women in sport throughout Europe, notably through the Enlarged Partial Agreement for Sport (EPAS).

The Alice Milliat Foundation is dedicated to media exposure and the promotion of women's sport. It helps bring to fruition projects that promote physical activity for young girls, social integration through sport, the search for a more inclusive sport and the development of parasport practices. More broadly, all actions that promote a fairer place for women in sport.

The Foundation can also support the organization of events (see our Supported Projects). To this end, it provides financial and technical support to organizations/associations, mainly through calls for projects. A number of projects have already been awarded the Alice Milliat label, and have benefited from personalized support throughout their development.
