Cycling. Technical literature or not. Set of six books: a) J - Lot 159
Cycling. Technical literature or not. Set of six books: a) Joies de plein air by A.T'Serstevens, 1944 (n°429); b) En selle by Louison Bobet and R.Le Bert, 1954; c) Cycling Manual, 23rd edition, 1st in 1917; d) la Planète à vélo by JP Vuillomene, 1965; e) Traité rationnel d'entrainement cycliste by Chabannes and Ralph with the trainers Thémar, Vannier, Pano. Preface by Desgrange, 1926; f) Microbe, champion of Sports, by Pierre Giffard, illustrations by William Adolphe Lambrecht (1876-1940)...A marvelous book published in the 1920s, from Dinan to Peking via the USA, from boat to bike, then to car, from misery to fortune, passing through Paris-Metz, Paris-Toulouse, the war between France and Germany through champions, everything is here with Robert Legrand, alias Microbe (1m57).The most touching book of the great Pierre Giffard (1853-1922), who gives us here in an amusing way (have fun recognizing the real protagonists) a large part of his industrial, cycling, or geographical experiences. The first edition was published in 1906, under the title "Microbe, petit Breton". When a tiny, physically untalented individual becomes a champion on the track, on the road or in industry, it is because he is Breton, and from Dinan. 314 p, 28x19, beautiful colour cover.
