Henry de MONTHERLANT (Paris 1895-1972) Novelist, essayist an - Lot 529
Henry de MONTHERLANT (Paris 1895-1972) Novelist, essayist and playwright. Autograph letter signed from the Château de CHANTILLY (Oise) on September 1, 1962, 2 p in-4, [to Marcel MITHOIS, literary director of Réalités and successful playwright]. He thanks him for having spoken "with such benevolence and indulgence about my passage to the Comédie Française", congratulates him on his comedy, which he read with great pleasure and enthusiasm. "I am sure that a beautiful destiny is promised to him, but I do not believe that this destiny should be entrusted to Marie Bell, too tragic, despite the variety and richness of her gifts, to interpret as it should be a role all in lightness and caprice! (Mithois did well to follow the advice of Montherlant, since he obtained a phenomenal success with his play Croque-Monsieur)
