Cyclisme/Presse/Giffard/Rousseau/ Original poster: "Read "Le - Lot 126
Cyclisme/Presse/Giffard/Rousseau/ Original poster: "Read "Le Vélo" every day, everywhere for 5 cents...". By Misti (Mifliez, 1865-1922), whose heroines like to read vélocipédiques programs or newspapers, even by the light of a beautiful green lantern. Chez Vercasson, lithograph, TBE, 128x83. With this gem, we're at the heart of the first great Parisian velocipedic press, the Dreyfus affair, and from there, we're also indirectly at the heart of the birth of the Tour de France in 1903. From 1892 to 1899, Le Vélo, a green publication, was at the top of the list, but its commitment to the Dreyfus affair caused it to lose its "big" advertisers, such as De Dion, Michelin and others, who were anti-Dreyfus and wanted to create a title to match their aspirations. From 1900, this was Desgrange's yellow "L'Auto-Vélo". The match between green and yellow was won by the latter, and the color yellow also came to distinguish, in 1919, the leader of the Tour, which yellow had created. What remains is this delightful image from 1895.
