PRINCE IMPERIAL (Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte, 1856-1879, son of Napoléon III) / Original photograph showing him in English uniform (cabinet size) presented in a period frame, probably an imperial gift given in remembrance after his tragic death in Zululand (typical present from Empress Eugénie), in rosewood and gilded bronze with friezes of laurel leaves and palmettes, surmounted by the imperial eagle embracing a thunderbolt and a sprig of laurel (overall 19 x 26 cm, cracked wood).
