HOSPICE DE BICETRE / Important iconography of what was first a poorhouse, then a prison and a lunatic asylum: 7 original drawings (pen, ink wash or graphite), circa 1910, some signed, one evoking the shackling of convicts in 1780 and the others, the attitudes of the insane from life; 16 photographs circa 1910 of drawings by illustrator Georges Meunier (1869-1942) depicting the insane at Bicêtre; 24 original photographs from the 1930s taken from glass plates (24 x 18 cm), 4 of which feature young lunatics; 35 original photographs from 1944 (small format, 9 x 6 cm), mainly featuring exteriors at the time; 20 original photographs from 1950 (13.5 x 9 cm) of exteriors; 6 miscellaneous documents relating to Bicêtre doctors (photos, illustrations).
