ATLANTIC PYRÉNÉES. 1791. Printed letter with autograph signatures of members of the "SOCIÉTÉ DE LA CONSTITUTION DE BAYONNE" (Society vignette), to the Amis de la Constitution de POITIERS (address). BAYONNE (64) December 7, 1791: "We owe, in truth, to the friendship that unites us with our brothers of the Quatre-Vingtième Régiment, ci-devant Angoumois (accused of having cowardly deserted, having at their head two Captains, Knights of St-Louis.) ... in circumstances where rebels threaten to bring a homicidal iron into the bosom of the Patrie, not only are there none who have abandoned their Flags, but all, firm at their post, await the moment to fight and die, if necessary, for Liberty."
