Letter signed Jean JUBELIN (1787-1860) Governor of GUADELOUPE and Dependencies, BASSE-TERRE, July 28, 1837, to Mr MOTAS, Commissaire de la Marine de 1ère Classe (who is retiring). 1 ½ page in-4°. "Mr PARISET has been appointed to replace you as Ordonnateur in Guadeloupe, having arrived in this Colony, you have expressed the desire to go immediately to Martinique... before rejoining France. I have the honor of informing you that... I have authorized your embarkation and that of your children and your retinue, aboard the State schooner LA ROSE, which will leave on Saturday, 29th of this month, to transport you to FORT-ROYAL.... You will leave in GUADELOUPE, for your successor, the memoir and documents whose delivery is prescribed... As your long and honorable public career comes to an end, receive from a former Comrade and friend, the expression of the regrets he feels at this separation..."
