Four of the major volumes of the famous Encyclopédie des Sports, piloted by the great pioneer of French sport, Philippe Daryl (1844-1909, actually Paschal Grousset, who also had André Laurie as his pseudonym). This man, who launched the idea of renovating the Olympic Games in 1888, was a former Communard who used several pseudonyms to shield himself from his past, and also to mask an exceptional capacity for work (he worked with Jules Verne), which we might have envied, and which makes us wonder whether it wasn't he who actually signed these four titles...
a) "L'Equitation moderne" (spine repaired, cover end missing), by a Cavalry Officer, 248 pages, 23x15.5, paperback. Poor condition, but all about the sport horse in France in 1892.
b) "Le sport de l'aviron" by an ex-champion, offered by Alexis Vignal, 1895, 21.5x15.5, paperback, 207 p, Fair condition.
c) "La Vélocipédie pour tous", by a veteran (uncut), 270 pages, 22.5x16 in-8, 1892, paperback, illustrations by Genilloud and Ed. Loevy
d) "Jeux de Balle et de Ballon (foot, paume, tennis)" by a Camp Judge, 1894, 232p, 22.5x16
