Tennis/ Albignac/ Baugniet/ Women's sports/ TCP - Lot 136
Tennis/ Albignac/ Baugniet/ Women's sports/ TCP Two highly original works: a) Couple in discussion at the TCP by François d'Albignac (1903-1958). The garçonne in yellow and red sailor suit, racket in hand, has just arrived on boulevard Exelmans, while the massive corsair with his headband and advantageous TCP is keen to exchange a few balls. Circa 1930. Gouache, India ink, 20 x 26 cm (with frame 31 x 40 cm) b) "Le joueur de tennis", lithograph by Marcel-Louis Baugniet (1896-1995). In the mid-1920s, the great Belgian artist produced a wide range of versions of his handsome player with a stripe. Here, in the bluish hues of his superimposed and overlapping volumes, he renders it dynamically omnipresent. "Yes, he saves her" Is it Lacoste? Is it Cochet? 35 x 26.5 cm (framed 50 x 39.5 cm).
