The Parliament of Paris has made every effort to remind your Majesty of these obligations: his respectful firmness has brought him disgrace: he owed this firmness to you, Sire; he owed it to God, to conscience, and to the laws of the State whose deposit is entrusted to him. The dismayed Nation asks you for his return; the Recall of all the members of this Parliament will be the most glorious period of your reign.
