REVOLUTION. UNREST IN THE TOULOUSE REGION. Autograph letter signed by a Noble "De G. de G." written from the Château de CANTELAUSE on August 12, 1789, addressed to his friend M. DESPOUS Receveur des Tailles du Diocèse de Béziers, in Montpellier. 3 pages in-4°: "... I confess to you, my dear Friend, that I have been one of the sensitive souls of the trouble we have experienced, of all the unfortunate things that have just happened, the brave and unique Mr NECKER (sic Neker) having just been recalled, and for him a new triumph, and the repose of the Citizens... Our good city is now enjoying Calm (the letter left Toulouse) and we have remained peaceful with my son here; but what a surprise it was one day, when we were informed of a general alarm, to keep us on our guard, of a number of 2, 6, and 10000 men, ravaging the Countryside; an extravagant noise whose origin we were able to find out. This false and inconceivable alarm is keeping our whole region awake, as we have patrolled the town and all the countryside. This will always keep the bad guys away, and someone always gets caught..."
