Barthélémy Louis Martin CHAUMONT DE LA GALAIZIÈRE, First Bishop of SAINT-DIÉ (Vosges) in 1777, in Nancy in 1787, he was one of five elected representatives of the clergy at the Assemblée provinciale de Lorraine et Barrois; he was appointed President. On January 21, 1791, he refused to take the Constitutional Oath and emigrated (Paris 1737 - Mareil-le-Guyon (78) 1808) - Signed as Bishop of Saint-Dié, on his own letterhead, name and titles. We grant Michael Francis MARCHAL, the priest of our Diocese, the ability to preach the Gospel of God, "conscious of your function, you will observe the rules, both in the ritual, and in the synodal statutes." Dated Saint-Dié, September 20, 1789. Seen in DOMBASLE on October 24, 1789. Text in Latin. 4 pages in-4°, Band with his coat of arms.
