GENERALITY OF PARIS 1781. DOG RAGE, epidemic and epizootic diseases: BY THE KING (Louis XVI). Order of Mr. Intendant of the Generality of PARIS : Louis Bénigne François BERTIER, Knight, Superintendent of the Household, Finances, Domains & Affairs of the Queen (Marie-Antoinette), concerning the functions of the Trustees in each Parish. November 27, 1781. "Not being able to take precautions too exact to be promptly informed of all that can interest the safety and health of the King's Subjects, in the Parishes of the Generality of Paris, as well as the conservation of the instruments of culture & of the Epidemic & Epizootic Diseases, in order to procure for the Parishes which are attacked by them, the help which will be necessary to them & to prevent the consequences of them, We have thought it necessary to prescribe to the Syndics what they will have to do in this respect." As soon as there are 4 or 5 sick people in the same parish, he must give notice on the spot. If he had knowledge that some rabid dog or suspected of rabies had bitten someone, he will be obliged to give notice on the spot... as soon as these people have been bitten, they will voluntarily go to the Establishment that we have just made in SAINT-DENIS..." - Printed in PARIS, by the Royal Printing Office, 1781.
