Charles Léon Marquis de BOUTHILLIER CHAVIGNY DE BEAUJEU (1743-1818) was a General and Deputy of the nobility to the Estates General for the Bailliage of BERRY. He emigrated on Oct. 4, 1791 and joined the army of the Princes. Major General of the Condé Army - Letter signed "BOUTHILLIER" in VALENCIENNES this December 30, 1790. 2pp in-folio. "Monsieur. Forced by pressing business accumulated over the last 19 months that I have been detained at the National Assembly, to come here to find one of my brothers-in-law who has been living here for over a year... I have not lost sight of the various military operations for which I have charged you... Nor have I neglected the details for which I was responsible, particularly with regard to the clothing of the troops...".
