Philippe CRESPIN DU BEC (1519-1605) Bishop of VANNES (1559-1566), Bishop of NANTES (1566-1594) and Archbishop of REIMS (1594-1605). Maître de la Chapelle du Roi and Commander of the Order of the Holy Spirit. He was the second son of Charles du Bec, Seigneur de Bourri et de Vardes, Vice-Admiral of France. He attended the Council of Trent. Lettre A.S. en tant qu'Évêque de NANTES, au Nonce apostolique; NANTES (44) le 19 Mars 1582. 1p in-folio. Stamp. Tear removing two lines of text. He sends Sieur Guillemyer to confer with him about the Nantes deanery. He would like to follow the example of the Cardinals of Lorraine and Créqui, his predecessors, in this matter; moreover, he has conferred with Cardinal de Bourbon.
